First Post: Expectations

What are your expectations of me as your teacher? What can I do to help you succeed? If you need help brainstorming, think of a teacher you once had who truly inspired and challenged you and consider what they did to contribute to your success.

My expectations this year in English 10, is to write more powerful and influencing papers. Also I would like to understand more concepts and to learn to have more meaning into my writing. I like going over what we've learned to help refresh my memory and not to be far behind everyone else.

This year in English 10 I really want to learn how to have more “voice” in my writing. Last year in English 9 my teacher was very good. However, the kids in the class weren’t. That had a HUGE effect on how much we learned. So in that case I really want to make up for what I missed out in last year. I also want to learn to get my homework in. You as a teacher can help me by really getting mad at me when I miss an assignment.

My expectations for this year in English 10 would be to improve my writing skills and also to learn how to comprehend my reading better and to understand what I read. To help me with that, I would like to discuss about books that I have read and to be able to write fun papers that still would have to be written in a more professional way.

Yo quiero para este clase to teach me swell English. This is Jason G. by the way. I also expect this class to keep me in line and off the streets. And also I would really really dig it if this class taught me who I am as a person so that way at the end of the year I'll know that. And I asides from also learning the meaning to life maybe this class could help me stop going off on tangent like say for instance I wanted to talk about teradactyles. Those things are dangerous and if you were to see one today it would most likely be CGI which leads me to CGI. Everything is done with computers now. I even heard that for the new Batman movie they’re going to CGI all the acid stuff on Two Face’s face, that’s so messed up. How is the actor going to get into character without all that make up on his face? That’s how actors feel comfortable, with pounds of make up and prosthetics on. Anyways instead of expecting this class to teach me great writing techniques or analyzing abstract media better or even getting more out of what I read, I want most of all for this class to help me talk good one day.

My expectations this year in a higher grade English class is to get stronger at writing with a wide set of vocabulary and higher levels of reading and understanding. To help me succeed, maybe review and learn more vocabulary, show us many different and good writing techniques to help set up for college, and review what happened in our reading books everyday or close to every day. I was in the integrated class last year, and even though we did lots of work and reading it did not seem to work for me learning wise.

The only thing I expect from you is that you teach us as best you know how and that you help us whenever it is possible. I also think that you should cater to all the different learning types so that all of us can learn and so we all have a fair chance at the information. I also expect myself to work hard and at the least get a low b in your class. If you see I am heading down the wrong road I would hope you could tell me if it looks like I am not getting it.

My expectations for this class this year is simply to learn more. I want to be able to mostly write better and expand my vocabulary. Also I would like to learn to think in different ways and expand my knowledge of the world.

My expectation of you as a teacher is to simply be helpful and understanding. You should make our classes humorous, optimistic, and productive. Make us want to learn, and strive to be better. All of those things will contribute to my success. I am able to improve when I understand what I am doing wrong, so I can go back and change things around. For example, constructive criticism is quite helpful when it comes to my writing. I like to know how I can make my writing better. I need to be challenged, otherwise I will easily become bored with what we are learning. It love having a teacher that I can talk to, and come to with questions. All of these things will help out in making this year a great learning experience for me and the entire class.

My expectations of you as my teacher for this year are for you to teach us to the best of your ability, and to help me learn to write better. Such as free writing, writing with a prompt or just answering essay questions. For the class expectations, I would hope that the class has respect for you, because my teacher had none last year, and that they will listen and learn like myself, so if i have a question, maybe one of them can help me with it, since there are like 30 of us.

My expectations for you as a teacher is to just be fun and very interesting, because it is very hard for me to pay attention if I'm not interested in what I'm listening too.

I find that a good teacher or a teacher that I learned a lot from, made everything fun. Even when we had to write for 10 minutes straight he chose fun topics that really got the class into writing. He also had a set routine. I think having a routine for each day would do wonders. It would show the students what the teacher expects of them and I believe we rose to the challenge. I guess, I expect my teacher to be teach (haha) but still have fun doing it. Group activities are a must and you have already had our minds whirring trying to figure out how you did that card trick. Having fun is the best thing I can think of for a teacher to get her/his students to learn. If something is boring, nobody learns. I am not saying we should have limitless fun but fun that has its limits. We still need to learn but a dreary class of you lecturing us on the use of a thesis statement is not going to get us very far. So, I expect from you, my teacher, to make class fun and not a do or die situation.

I expect you to respect me with the same amount of respect I give you. I also hope that you will push me until I break, then help me stand back up. I expect you not to take my crap, and really make me think. I expect you to be willing to learn something from me, if you aren't willing to learn from me, I am not willing to learn from you. Most of all I expect an exciting class, the more exhilarating the environment, the harder I will want to work for you.

My expectations this year in your class would to be able to expand my vocabulary and be able to spell those words correctly. I love writing so i want to be able to write fun stories or ones that i can actually relate to. I love teachers who compromise with strict and fun because those teachers always make me learn the best. I am not the best reader when it comes to boring school books so i would love it if we were given the chance to read fun books for fun!
